DESIGN PRINCIPLES

SPEAKER PROJECT

This was a 5-week project. The aim of this project was to design a loud-speaker inspired by a London based postcode. We were each given the postcode of an area in London surrounding a design shop; I was allocated the postcode WC2B 5SG wherein the ARAM store is situated.

In my design, I wanted to incorporate the geometric shapes and vivid colours that were prominent in the area and so created the concept of a triangularly prism-like body. I was interested in how a series of smaller shapes could mesh together to create a solid body, this is shown in the cutouts on the front face of the speaker.

These concept sketches show the final development stages of this design and the fundamentals of how it would be created.

MAKING

This page depicts one of the many stages it took to create the final model.

MAGAZINE SPREAD

This project involved creating a magazine spread designed to entice potential buyers as well as describing the influences and context behind the design.

CONTEXT PHOTOSHOP

This image shows what the final product would look like in a likely setting. I chose a setting that I felt related to the target market as it's fresh, contemporary and inspiring.
