For this project, I was able to undertake both the design and creation of the prototypes for this headlamp guard, which lead to the sale of this product at Touratech.
My brief was to create a Headlamp Guard for the KTM 1290 Super ADV motorbike. The product was to be made from aluminium sheet metal and then laser cut and machine bent. In order to attach the product to the motorbike, connection points were to be located and a suitable connector accessory was also to be developed with a quick release.

I sketched the initial designs by hand and formed an initial prototype, after this, I created scan data from the motorbike to use as a base to work off in SolidWorks. Once satisfied with the Solidworks files I sent them to be checked by the CAD Engineers and following that prototypes and adjustments were made.

I enjoyed working on this project as I was given the opportunity to do the design and development myself, as well as having the satisfaction of seeing the part go into production and be sold on the market. It was really interesting to create the files needed to laser cut and bend the parts as well as see this process being done first-hand onsite.
